Customer list audiences are Meta's bridge between your CRM and its targeting: upload your customers or leads, Meta matches them to profiles, and you get retargeting audiences and — usually more valuable — lookalike seeds built from people who actually pay you. This template's columns follow Meta's documented customer-list format as of July 2026.
Formatting is the entire game here: lowercase, no punctuation, country codes on phones, two-letter country abbreviations. Meta hashes identifiers automatically on upload, but it can only match what's formatted the way its matcher expects — the example rows model exactly that.
| Lowercase, trimmed. The workhorse identifier. | |
| phone | Country code plus digits, nothing else (15550100 → +15550100 style per Meta's current spec). |
| fn | First name, lowercase, letters only. |
| ln | Last name, lowercase, letters only. |
| ct | City, lowercase, no punctuation or spaces. |
| st | Two-letter state/region code, lowercase. |
| zip | Postal code. |
| country | Two-letter ISO country code, lowercase — required for matching outside the US. |
It varies with data quality and identifier count — well-formatted lists with multiple identifiers commonly match a majority of rows, while email-only lists match materially less. Treat Meta's reported match rate as feedback on your formatting and refresh discipline, not a fixed fact.
Meta hashes identifiers in the browser/tool during upload and matches against hashes. The compliance question is yours though: upload only data you hold with a lawful basis for this use, disclose it in your privacy policy, and honor opt-outs in your refresh pipeline.
They're complements: the pixel captures site visitors, the list captures CRM truth (who actually became a customer). Since signal loss hit pixels, CRM-derived audiences have only grown in relative value — which is also the argument for our offline conversions template alongside this one.
This is a Market Disrupt worksheet, not a vendor file. Import-format templates follow each platform's documented layout as of July 2026 — platforms evolve, so validate against current documentation before a large import.
